Taken from her recent EP of the same name, ‘Dancing All Night’ is already a firm fan favourite at her live shows. With its feel good chorus and heartwarming lyrics, the song is inspired by her family, and the joy of beholding a couple whose love for each other has passed the test of time.
“It was inspired by my parents,” says 22-year old Frankie. “They’re both so full of energy, they love to have a giggle, mess around and have a dance. When it came to writing the song, it wrote itself because it was like I was telling their story.”
Frankie was born and raised in Jersey, and was brought up listening to country music. When she began playing the guitar and writing songs, there was only one style of music she wanted to make – country. “I’ve listened to it for as long as I can remember, and it’s definitely left an imprint on my voice. Country music has shaped my sound and my song writing completely. But I don’t just want to imitate US country music. I’m proud to be putting my own take on it and to be part of the UK country scene – which is so strong right now.”
Citing bands like The Shires and Ward Thomas as paving the way for UK country artists Frankie is confident now is the time for country to really cross over in the mainstream. “They’ve helped the scene in a massive way. So much so our music is now engaging with audiences who aren’t specifically country fans. The fan base in the UK are so loyal and supportive, it feels like we have a real community of Country artists, bands and fans who really appreciate the music.”
Frankie released her first single, ‘Superman’ in 2014. The track received national airplay on BBC Radio 2, which in turn helped nab her the main support slot for The Shires UK tour. With her profile steadily rising she was chosen by Bob Harris as one of only three artists to join the BBC Introducing team on a trip to Nashville, to perform at the Americana Music Festival ‘The Americanas’ in November 2014.
Her follow up, ‘Shiver’s was just as well received, with more plays on Radio 2 and hitting the ‘New & Noteworthy’ list on iTunes. On the live side, she’s played at the UK’s biggest Country music show – the C2C Festival plus festival spots at the likes of Isle of Wight and Barn on the Farm and most recently, Frankie has just returned from supporting Nashville superstar Chris Young on his sold out European Tour, which included performing to a packed out Shepherds Bush O2 and shows across Dublin, Glasgow, Stockholm, Berlin and more.
Frankie is currently working on her debut album, due for release next year, she’s returning to Nashville in March to record some of the tracks and is already planning a new UK tour for next summer. Stay tuned for tour dates and news on the album release.
