The Manchester Pride Spring Benefit is set to return for a second year, the charity has confirmed, with a brand new venue and a line-up of class acts.
This year’s fundraiser will be hosted on Thursday 19 May and will once again bring together sponsors, business leaders, individual supporters, community champions and celebrities to raise money for The Manchester Pride Community Fund.
Hosted at The Bays, Victoria Warehouse Hotel, entertainment for the Spring Benefit 2016 will come from Liverpool songstress Rebecca Ferguson and acoustic, folk singer and former X-Factor contestant Lucy Spraggan, with local performer Dean Mac also added to the star-studded line-up.
Rebecca Ferguson’s career to date has seen remarkable highs – 1.5 million sales of her debut album “Heaven”, comparisons with her heroes Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone, Dusty Springfield and Macy Gray, plaudits from Adele, every major critic in the UK and Radio 4’s ‘Today’ programme (the first artist from the X Factor ever to appear on the show).
All three of Rebecca’s albums, released on RCA records, have charted in the top 10 in The Official Chart and gone on to be showcased across three sold-out UK tours and a 2013 tour across the US. 2015, alone, has witnessed Rebecca travel around the world to perform, most notably the Festival of Creativity held in Shanghai in March where Rebecca sang in front of Prince William as well as performing at the Beiteddeine Festival in Lebanon in August. With her fourth studio album already in motion, Rebecca has had an exciting 2015 with an even more exciting 2016 on the horizon.
Lucy released her third album, We Are, in 2015 and has performed on the Main Stage at the last three of Manchester Pride’s Big Weekends. She also took to the stage to perform at the 2015 George’s House Trust Candlelit Vigil in 2015 and has made appearances in some of the UK’s most prestigious music venues, including the O2 Arena, Royal Albert Hall and Manchester Arena. Her latest EP Home will be released this month, as the ‘AFLOP’ musician embarks on an acoustic tour.
Joining Rebecca and Lucy is local Pop and R&B recording artists Dean Mac. The local pop and RnB artist has been described as the UK’s answer to Justin Timberlake. With inspiration from Jamiroquai, Michael Jackson, Daft Punk and Justin himself, Dean Mac’s sound is electrifyingly soulful.
In addition to the fabulous entertainment, guests will be invited to make their way down the red carpet to a sparkling drinks reception in the illustrious Bays Brick Bar.
Mark Fletcher, Chief Executive at Manchester Pride, said: “We’re really pleased to be bringing back the Spring Benefit for a second year, following its huge success in 2015. Last year’s event made a significant contribution to our record annual fundraising total, earning its place as a firm must attend evening on the LGBT and supporters calendar. With an amazing new venue, this year attendees can expect another first class evening with stunning performances and a few surprises on the night, and we will of course be encouraging everybody to help us beat the total raised for LGBT causes at last year’s event.”
The Manchester Pride Spring Benefit exists to raise money for the Manchester Pride Community Fund. Integral to creating and sustaining a vibrant community, this fund provides crucial support for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and HIV charities and organisations in Greater Manchester.
There are a limited number of tickets available for the event and individual tickets can be purchased for £85, which includes a drinks reception, a four-course dinner and entertainment.
