A teenage Birmingham political activist has quit his Labour post and threatened to resign from the Party after claiming to have been the victim of homophobia.

Former city council candidate Luke Holland, 18, alleges he was discriminated against because of his sexuality.

The teenager took the Twitter to post an open letter of resignation from his position on the Hall Green Labour Party Executive.

He has also fired off an email to John Clancy, leader of Birmingham City Council, and said he would quit the Labour Party unless his concerns were addressed.

A spokesman for West Midlands Labour Party said: “The Labour Party strongly condemns homophobia and will thoroughly examine any complaints.”
