Lucie Jones took to the stage alongside five other hopefuls who all battled it out for the honour of representing the United Kingdom at Eurovision 2017 in a live 90-minute musical extravaganza on BBC Two presented by Mel Giedroyc.

Lucie Jones will be performing Never Give Up On You, written by The Treatment, Emmelie de Forest and Lawrie Martin.

Musical theatre star Lucie has been singing for as long as she can remember. In 2015, she toured Asia in the musical Ghost playing the lead character Molly Jensen; she’s also starred as the lead in Legally Blonde, Les Miserables and Rent.

Lucie Jones said: “I’m very excited; I’m still shaking a little bit. I can’t believe that people chose me. How wonderful is that? Representing the UK as a singer, it’s such an honour.”

Eurovision: You Decide was broadcast live on BBC Two from The Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith on Friday 27 February, featuring performances by six competing acts.

The winner of Eurovision: You Decide 2017 was decided by a combination of viewer and expert jury votes.

As well as the acts’ performances, the jam-packed 90-minute live show from BBC Music and BBC Studios featured performances from 2009 Eurovision Song Contest winner, Alexander Rybak and The Vamps.

Guy Freeman, Editor of Special Events and Head of Delegation for the UK said: “What a night! Huge congratulations to all of the acts for their stand out performances and the song-writers for their participation in this year’s national final. We are delighted for Lucie and are proud to take Never Give Up On You to the Eurovision Song Contest Final in May.”
