Transgender people will no longer be labeled as ‘mentally ill’ in Sweden, in a move campaigners said was ‘long overdue’.

The National Board of Health and Welfare, the country’s main health authority, announced the decision late on Friday.

It follows a similar change from the World Health Organisation (WHO) last October.
