It’s been ten years since Sean famously auditioned for the X Factor, with his sister Sarah, as part of ‘Same Difference’. The duo reached the final, and went on to sell more than 300,000 records.

As Sean Smith is pursuing his solo career, sister Sarah has gone down a different path, teaching toddlers, children, teens and adults to sing and dance at SD Studios – a nod to Same Difference – in their home city of Portsmouth.

He said: “I’m so proud of Sarah, she’s pursuing her dreams and doing amazingly at it too. We’re both immensely proud of each other and it’s great that we’re both finding our own way in the world.

Same Difference was an incredible chapter in our lives but it’s wonderful to achieve what you want to achieve as individuals too.”

Sean signed to Energise records as a solo artist, and released his debut solo single ‘Turn Me On’ in September 2016. The single became the labels fastest selling physical single, and the music video amassed over 26,000 views in its first 3 weeks of release. The remix EP reached #15 on the UK iTunes dance album chart.

Sean released his second solo single ‘Magic’ in May 2017. The track reached number #29 on the UK iTunes dance singles chart, and has amassed over 100,000 streams on Spotify.

It’s been a fantastic year for Sean performing as one of the headline acts in sell-out shows in Manchester and Liverpool – sharing the stage with The Only Way Is Essex’s Ricky Rayment, and Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton. Sean also performed a set at Oxford pride, a show in Monte Carlo and is currently performing in the states as Britney Spears in ‘We Will Rock You’.

He said: “This year has been a really amazing one for me, I’ve recorded my album, released ‘Magic’ and been able to perform live across the UK, and abroad”.

Sean recently debuted his new peroxide hair colour and toned body to body on ‘Loose Women’ on ITV.

He said: “You have to reinvent yourself and make the most of yourself. I was almost asexual when I was Sean from Same Difference. Now I just feel like I can just be myself and talk about all these things.”

Sean’s debut solo album is scheduled for release in 2018.

He said: “I’m so excited for everyone to hear the new album, it’s been so much fun to record, and it’s something I’m extremely proud of. I’m looking forward to performing the new tracks live on stage next year”.

Sean’s new single ‘Fire’ is written by Charlie Mason (who co-wrote) the Eurovision winning song ‘Rise Like the Phoenix’), and Daniel Volpe and features remixes by Ricardo Autobahn and FNK’D UP DJ.
