GLAAD, U.S lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) media advocacy organisation, today announced actress Drew Barrymore will be hosting the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles, presented nationally by Ketel One Vodka and Wells Fargo, and locally by Delta Air Lines.

Drew Barrymore will host the ceremony on April 20, 2013 at the JW Marriott in downtown Los Angeles. Grammy Award-winning recording artist Kelly Rowland will perform at the ceremony.

GLAAD previously announced that former President Bill Clinton will receive the Advocate for Change Award, and entertainment attorney Steve Warren will receive the Stephen F. Kolzak Award.

Other presenters and attendees include: Leonardo DiCaprio, Charlize Theron, Jennifer Lawrence, Tobey Maguire, Matt Bomer, Alex Pettyfer, Elle Fanning, Betty White, Chris Evans, Mary Steenburgen, Ted Danson, Diane Kruger, and Joshua Jackson.

Actress Drew Barrymore received the Vanguard Award at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles in 2010. Barrymore co-starred in Boys on the Side, written by out gay filmmaker Don Roos, which won the award for Outstanding Film – Wide Release at the 7th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. In 2009, Barrymore produced He’s Just Not That Into You in which she played a straight reporter at a LGBT newspaper who desperately seeks dating advice from her gay best friends. She also undertook the role of Rosie Goode, the lesbian daughter of a widower played by Robert De Niro in Everybody’s Fine, nominated for Outstanding Film – Wide Release at the 21st Annual GLAAD Media Awards.

The GLAAD Media Awards are presented nationally by Ketel One and Wells Fargo and the Los Angeles event will be presented by Delta Air Lines.

Nominees for the 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards were announced in January and are available here: http://www.glaad.org/mediaawards/nominees. The New York GLAAD Media Awards were held on March 16 at the New York Marriott Marquis. The final GLAAD Media Awards event will take place in San Francisco on May 11 at the Hilton San Francisco – Union Square where Adam Lambert will receive the Davidson/Valentini Award.

The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives. They also fund GLAAD’s work to amplify stories from the LGBT community that build support for equality. Each year, the GLAAD Media Awards in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco bring together more than 5,000 advocates and allies to raise critical funds for the organization’s work.

The 24th Annual GLAAD Media Awards are executive produced by Marc Honaker, Director of Creative Development at GLAAD, and by Josh Wood, founder and president of Josh Wood Productions. Emmy Award-winning production designer James Connelly will design this year’s set. Producer and editor Brett Henrichsen will also contribute to this year’s GLAAD Media Awards.
