Delay Saints is made up of Mark Brennan and Rob Slade, two London based friends and musicians that decided to start making music together this year.

Delay Saints

With influences ranging from Fenech-Soler to Enya, and Sade to Roisin Murphy, the band is exploring everything electronically possible. Rob’s self-taught way of creating music and his obsession with Bjork leads to an experimental style of writing. Mark’s been musically trained and is more structured in his approach to song writing and production. Both of these styles complement each other and result in interesting pop. Both Rob and Mark write the lyrics and sing on each track.

The band has two musical styles. The first dabbles in hip hop beats with a chilled out vibe whilst the second embraces the fun side of pop. Not happy to commit to either, Delay Saints plan to continue creating music in both fields.

The lead track at the moment is ‘Stay Now’. The track captures the pop sound of Delay Saints. The song contains experimental synth sounds that are complemented by the melodic piano and driving drums. The idea was to create a track that builds with layers, repeating what’s been heard before but adding new sounds to give it a different dynamic. At the end, the duo went all out Hunger Games film orchestra. More tracks can be heard on their SoundCloud page.

Meet the Delay Saints

Before creating Delay Saints, both members were pursuing their own musical adventures. Rob spent most of his time making and performing music under the name Rigil. His debut album ‘Concertina Heart’ was released through Fenetre Records and has worked on several remixes and collaborations. Mark has been playing keys, provided backup vocals and wrote song arrangements for Laurie Nicoll aka Basheba, performing live in London’s usual haunts.

At the moment the band are continuing to write and are rehearsing in preparation for their live shows in September. Follow @DelaySaints on Twitter for gig announcements.
