A toolkit designed to stamp out homophobia in football is being launched last Wednesday by the TUC as part of a concerted action by unions and their allies.
On Saturday 3rd Jan 2015 at roughly 1900 hours Natalie and her girlfriend were queuing to pay in Tesco Surrey quays, Southwark. In front of them there was a lesbian couple, one of which was pregnant. She was the butcher one of the couple. As they left the cashier shook her head and turned to me saying “they’re gay.” “It’s wrong”. First Natalie ignored all cashier Maggie comments because she was shocked.
Stonewall have teamed up with community club FC United of Manchester and Homeless FA to continue working to tackle homophobia in football.
Stonewall today marks its 25th anniversary with the launch of a guide celebrating older lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) role models. LGBT Voices, kindly supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, features the stories of 25 people who have contributed to the campaign for equality in Britain and around the world.
The Welsh national squad and the Welsh Rugby Union have joined Stonewall’s NoBystanders campaign to help tackle abuse and bullying. The move comes after openly-gay referee Nigel Owens was subjected to homophobic abuse at Twickenham. Rugby’s finest have now taken a stand by joining thousands of individuals and organisations who are backing the NoBystanders anti-bullying campaign.
Stonewall, working with celebrities, workplaces and schools, is calling on individuals and organisations to tackle abusive language this Anti-Bullying Week by supporting the NoBystanders campaign. The campaign has already been backed by celebrities including Stephen Fry, Nicole Scherzinger, Perez Hilton, Sinitta, Clare Balding and David Walliams.
