Danish lawmakers have approved a law granting gay couples equal rights in adoption, according to the Herald Tribune.

Today the European Parliament adopted a non-binding resolution on strengthening the fight against racism, xenophobia and hate crime. The text calls on the European Commission to add homophobia and transphobia to the list of EU-sanctioned hate speech and violence.

In a 62-53 vote with 64 absentees, parliament put Denmark in line with other EU countries, including Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium and Sweden, allowing same-sex couples equal rights in adoption.
