Employees to be reimbursed by social media giant for discriminatory federal taxes on same-sex partner health benefits
The Human Rights Campaign – the America’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organisation – this week praised the social media site Facebook for its announcement that its United States-based employees who opt to cover their same-sex domestic partners under the company’s medical, dental or vision plans will be eligible for reimbursement to offset the additional federal tax liability incurred by receiving those benefits.
Immigration Releases Transgender Woman Under the Convention Against Torture
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently released a Salvadorian Transgender Woman known as “Karla” after she was granted Deferral of Removal under the Convention Against Torture (CAT) by a San Diego Immigration Judge (IJ.) Karla’s release and legalized status in the US constitutes the culmination of a two and a half year long struggle with ICE.
