Is That Six Million Men In Your Pocket Or Are You Just Appy To See Me?
Available last Tuesday via the iTunes App Store, is the brand spankin’ new Gaydar App, putting six million men in the pockets of lucky iPhone users around the world. Gaydar.net is the first major gay dating website to offer a fully integrated app, allowing app and web users the exact same access to its profiles and services.

“Flexibility, convenience and online integration make this the uncontested alpha male, VGL jock of all gay dating apps!” says Gaydar’s Head Of North American Market, Phil Henricks. “Guys love knowing that whether he is behind his computer screen at home or on his mobile device running around town, he will show up on the app.”
No longer does going on a manhunt mean choosing between laptop-only, app-only or, sadly, no app access whatsoever. Gaydar.net offers savvy app users its popular web features “Friends & Favorites,” “Tracks,” “Messages” and “Search,” while introducing sophisticated new features and safety tools not available on similar apps, including:
Nearby Search: Dual search displays profiles of those logged into the app using GPS as well as those that have set their location with zip code or longitude and latitude.
Nearby Safety: Built into the Nearby Search function is a nifty safety feature, which limits profile locations displayed to a minimum of 75 meters, regardless of how close he is.
Google Maps: Ready to meet? Gaydar can embed a Google Map into app messages, which can be viewed by both app and web customers.
Profiles and messages in nine languages including French, Italian and Spanish.

Additionally, in an effort to avoid raised eyebrows in the check-out line, all 12 million Gaydar.net profile photos have been rated by the in-house Customer Relations team to abide by Apple’s guidelines, ensuring the app’s public content is suitable for all ages. As G-rated photos are automatically selected for display in public areas of the app, Gaydar recommends frisky fellas update their profile with at least one headshot or risk a big fat “XXX” icon being displayed instead. Show-offs, however, can attach up to five private photos to messages.
New and existing Gaydar members and guests using iPad, iTouch and iPhone 3G, 3GS and 4 can download the app free of charge from the iTunes App Store. Gaydar membership is free to guys age 24 and under.
An Android version is currently in development and will be available in time to ring in New Year’s Eve with a bang.
