Celebrated director, producer and choreographer Adam Shankman returns as Special Guest Director of this high-profile annual event benefiting the life-saving, life-affirming work of The Trevor Project, which provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) teens and young adults.
The Trevor Hero Award honours Katy Perry for empowering youth and increasing visibility and understanding of the LGBTQ community. As an ally for the LGBTQ community, Perry has supported equality and the freedom to marry. She inspires LGBTQ youth to find their spark through her video “Firework.” Perry strives to let youth know they have value, and by being themselves, they can be anything.

Our sexual orientation or gender identity doesn’t change the spark and beauty within,” said Katy Perry, Trevor Hero Award honouree. “I’m honoured that The Trevor Project has selected me to receive the Trevor Hero Award. Their work has inspired me since 2010, and I know they help save lives.”
