Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people are being targeted to help ease the shortage of people willing to adopt and foster.

Independent adoption and fostering charity PACT is running an event in Reading next month as a prelude to the second annual LGBT Adoption and Fostering Week, from March 4-10.

A gay adopter named Olivier will speak to a meeting on Wednesday, March 6, at 6.30pm at PACT’s offices at 9 South Street, Reading.

LGBT people could help make up the shortfall of desperately needed foster carers and adoptive parents and provide homes for some of the 4,000 children up for adoption every year and the other 9,000 in need foster homes.
