Orangemen to vote for gay marriage
Two senior Orangemen plan to defy the Institution’s position on gay marriage.
Lord Laird and Lord Rogan, both members of Royal York LOL 145, said they will vote in the House of Lords in favour of gay marriage for England and Wales.
The legislation, which was voted through Parliament earlier this week, will not apply to Northern Ireland.
Only two of Ulster’s 18 MPs – Naomi Long, East Belfast, and Mark Durkan, Foyle – voted for it in the Commons on Monday.
It will now have to be passed by the Lords.
