In a wide-ranging interview with CNN, ace Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander said he and his Tigers teammates would welcome a gay player to the club.

Verlander also said it’s likely there are currently gay players in baseball but they are probably hesitant to reveal their sexuality.

“We have (a family) atmosphere here and I don’t think one of our players would be scared to come out,” Verlander told CNN. “We have 25 guys as a family and their goal is to win a World Series. What your sexual orientation is, I don’t see how that affects our goal as a family.”
