Openly gay former Middle Tennessee State kicker Alan Gendreau is making another run at NFL history, after a rocky senior season ruined his shot at getting drafted or signed in 2012.

After a sabbatical from the game, he’s been preparing to try out for teams, with the hope of catching on in the next few years. If Gendreau makes it, he would become the first openly gay player to compete in the NFL.
