(In)Voluntary Departure is a documentary chronicling the lives of a gay bi-national couple, Alon Rosenfeld and Alessandro Tomasseti, during their final days in the United States. Israeli-born, Alon received his U.S. citizenship in 2009 and after over 13 years of building their lives, careers, and home, these small business owners awoke to Canadian-born Sandro’s H1B Visa final extension expiring with no permanent residency options. (In)Voluntary Departure takes an intimate look at the immigration policies of the United States through the departure of Alon and Sandro as well as through the multi-national community that surrounded them and their business.
