Two men have been injured in a homophobic attack after they left a gay bar.

A 26-year-old had just left Planet on Baxter’s Place in Edinburgh and was passing the Tesco store on Picardy Place at 12.20am on Saturday when he saw his friend lying injured on the ground.

He went to help the 27-year-old, who had a painful eye injury, and was punched in the face by another man.

The attacker made homophobic remarks as he punched the man before heading down Leith Walk with a woman.
