Coke bans the word ‘gay’ from new campaign

The Sochi Winter Olympics have come under plenty of scrutiny because of Russia’s gay rights laws and one of the event’s sponsors, Coca-Cola hasn’t escaped the criticism either.

According to Newspaper Metro, Coke website allows users to type in their name or a message and see it printed on a virtual can, that they can share with family, friends and followers on social networks.

If you try and enter ‘gay’, Coke website responds with a message saying: ‘Oops. Let’s pretend you didn’t just type that’, but straight it’s OK to type.
