Kluwe says Vikings cut him over gay marriage advocacy

In a 3,700-word piece published on Deadspin.com, Kluwe writes that while he can’t know for sure if his advocacy for same-sex marriage led to his dismissal from the team, he’s ‘pretty confident’ that was the reason for his ouster.

The former Vikings punter painted the decision-makers in Minnesota as cowards and labeled his special teams coach as a bigot in an essay he wrote for Deadspin. Kluwe, an outspoken advocate for same-sex marriages, was cut by the Vikings prior to the 2013 season and sat out all of last season as no other team in the league signed him.
