Norway : Stops parts of the aid in the gay protest

Norway holds back 50 million kroner (4.9 million £). in aid to Uganda because of the country's new law that punishes homosexuality with life imprisonment.

Uganda has been one of Norway’s main partner in Africa.

In recent years, aid has been around 400 million (397 million £ ) per year. The support was stepped up after Yoweri Museveni came to power in 1986.

Now part of the amount withheld in protest against the controversial law that Museveni signed earlier today, and that means that gays risking life imprisonment.
