Slovakia’s LGBTI persons committee, a government advisory body, has expressed concern over a new draft amendment to the Constitution aimed at banning same-sex marriage, the TASR news organization reported Thursday.
Submitted by the governing Smer-SD party and the Opposition Christian Democrats, the bill is being discussed in the National Council, or the national Parliament.
According to the report, the bill will add two sentences to the constitution — “Marriage is a unique bond between one man and one woman. Slovak Republic will assist and help in preserving this bond.”
