Norway : A small but important gay parade
For the first time it was organised a gay parade in Nord-Trøndelag county, Norway. The reason is that a girl from Steinkjer felt discriminated against because of her sexual orientation during a job interview.
It was a colourful spectacle at short notice had gathered in Steinkjer last Saturday morning.
– Although this may not measure up to the parade in Oslo, so it is important that we have shown that there are gays in other parts of Norway too. For gays are found throughout Norway, says Hanne Moe Mevassvik.
It is probably the county’s first gay parade that was initiated by Silje Marita Martinsen after a young woman was asked about her sexual orientation in a job interview at a clothing store in Steinkjer.
– We want to show that Steinkjer is a city that lives by their slogan “Open, bright and happy,” she writes on the facebook page Mini Parade in Steinkjer.
