In the wake of the law on legal sex change, which came into force on 1 September 2014, the Danish Board of Health (Sundhedsstyrelsen) issued guidelines which prohibits private clinics to offer transgender hormone therapy, partly gathers all processing of trans people in Sexology Clinic in the hands of a "multi-disciplinary treatment team ", and also prevents the treatment of trans people, unless they have completed 6 months of talk therapy.

Transgender

Copenhagen Pride turns sharply against this discriminatory approach to transgender people the right to choose his own life and says heavy criticism of a practice which continues to make transgender a sickness by maintaining transsexualism as a psychiatric diagnosis.

It is directly putting people’s lives at risk to forbid them to continue an on-going treatment and to prevent doctors from helping adults, adult people get the treatment they want.

It is to set ordinary citizens rights out of play, when preventing transgender people from making free choices in their own lives and in this case a direct attack, when you insist to make people sick before they can get treatment as required , leading to a surgical sex change, as part transgender people do not want.

Copenhagen Pride encourage the Danish Board of Health (Sundhedsstyrelsen) and the Danish Health Minister to think again on this issue and ensure that transgender people can continue to receive legal hormone treatment in private clinics and that transsexuality is finally removed from the list of mental illnesses, remove the demand for surgical gender reassignment and that Sexologisk Kliniks monopoly broken .
