This year the competition also takes a new turn; with focus on environmental issues, self-development and networking.
In countries with genuine Mr Gay Europe National Producers the delegates will be chosen by those, in all other countries anyone who wants to take part and make a difference can sign on and hopefully be the one picked for the challenge.
– This year we want to put more focus on an area that our LGBTI Youth will identify with, which we at Mr Gay Europe believe is “attributes over abs”. We all know that our Mr Gays can capture the lens of a camera, but we want to know if they can capture your imagination with their words, their brains and their focus on LGBTI Rights. We are looking for an ambassador that will connect with our entire LGBTI European Community and someone who will connect with and inspire our European youth, says co-founder and owner Mr Tore Aasheim.
– We are proud and happy to have Mr Stuart Hutton Jr. come on board as our new Managing Director which has brought new and fresh ideas to the table, at the same time he has a lot of experience with this kind of events as he has participated in Mr Gay UK, Mr Gay Europe and Mr Gay World.
The 10th Mr Gay Europe kicks off in Stockholm, Sweden where all the delegates arrive in the morning on Friday 29 July. The delegates are invited to be a part of Stockholm Pride, to meet and greet proud gay men and women from all over Sweden and rest of Europe. The Stockholm Pride parade is one big celebration, and this year the Mr Gay Europe delegates are going to be a part of this very special event on Saturday.
Sunday the delegates start their journey through northern Scandinavia with impressive mountain areas, midnight sun and even wildlife safari.
The finale ends on Friday 5 August with a special TV-show broadcast from the literary top of Norway, from a venue shaped like an U.F.O.! Along the trip the delegates will meet politicians, professionals, youth and opinion makers in order to learn, understand and educate themselves.
The quest for Mr Gay Europe is to find a spokesperson and a role-model for young gay males throughout Europe; not based solely on his looks, but on his communication skills and knowledge. The guys will have time to have fun, to relax and to get to know each other while competing in different challenges along the way. The whole event will be documented and will be shared with friends and fans online through a televised presentation with the delegates and invited guests.
