A popular LGBT summer fundraising event organised by a leading North East charity is moving to a new venue due to an increased demand in ticket sales.

Newcastle Pride

Northern Pride, which organises free LGBT festival Newcastle Pride – sponsored by business improvement district NE1 – is moving its black tie ball event, which takes place on Wednesday, 14 June, to The Boiler Shop, Newcastle to cater for the increasing demand.

The glittering evening, which celebrates the achievements of the LGBT community and highlights the challenges they face, will run from 7pm until late, and features a night of music and dance performances, along with a classic Motown set from the Shelley Stevens Show.

Guests at the event, supported by Ramside Event Catering, will also enjoy a complimentary welcome drink, three course meal and the chance to win a host of prizes in a raffle and auction.

Proceeds from the Northern Pride Black Tie Ball will be used to ensure Newcastle Pride remains free to attend, cementing its status as one of the biggest free festivals in the UK.

Mark Nichols, Chair of Northern Pride, said: “The Black Tie Ball gives us the perfect opportunity to get more people involved in Newcastle Pride – a festival that we’re proud to say is now in its tenth year.

“We’re amazed that there has been such a huge interest in the evening and hope that guests will join us at our new, larger venue – The Bottle Shop – for what is sure to be a night to remember.”

Tickets for the Northern Pride Black Tie Ball are priced at £35 per person or £315 for a table of 10 and can be booked by emailing mark.nichols@npride.org.uk for tables of 10 or by ordering online at www.northern-pride.com, where full listings for the wider Newcastle Pride festival are also available.

This includes the event’s Manchester Airport Main Stage weekend at Newcastle’s Town Moor from 21 to 23 July, with a huge musical line-up soon to be announced.

There will also be satellite events running at venues across the city during June and July, including the LGBT youth prom.

This year’s Newcastle Pride 2017 festival is sponsored by business improvement district company, NE1, which has sponsored the event for three years running.
