A Norwegian family recently complained to The Travel Complaint Handling Body in Norway, after arriving at a hotel in Gran Canaria in their opinion, was a hotel for gays.
The family claims that the travel company, TUI, denied that the hotel (Riu Don Miguel, Playa del Ingles) was for gay people. Furthermore, the family claims that most people who worked at the hotel were gay. The male complainant and his sons speak Spanish, and this was not something they could misunderstand.
In the complaint to The Travel Complaint Handling Body in Norway, the male complainant wrote that the family holiday was destroyed because they had to live in a place with many gays.
The complaint was rejected by The Travel Complaint Handling Body (Transportklagenemnda og Pakkereisenemnda) in Norway, DinAvis.no reports.
“The board can not see that the complainant is entitled to compensation. There are a lot of different people working in hotels around the globe, both in terms of colour, religion and sexual orientation. As long as the hotel’s services are performed according to the agreement with the individual operator, this is not a valid claim concludes The Travel Complaint Handling Body. ”
MySoCalledGayLife.co.uk praises TUI that have chosen to use hotels with diversity and The Travel Complaint Handling Body in Norway for their conclusion and at last, but not least to the Riu Don Miguel, Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria for choosing diversity at the workplace.
To the family of the complaint, if we gays had the same attitude as you – we wouldn’t be able to work – we would use our workdays to fill out complaints about too many straight people… As an adult (the complainer) you should have been a good role model for your boys – instead you failed miserably as a father and a human being – your action has a name it’s called homophobic.
