The LGBT station, based in Newcastle, Tyne and Wear, currently has an audience in 125 countries, with a listenership fast approaching one million.
And now Marcus Hunter-Neill, aka Lady Portia Di’Monte, will be taking to the airwaves for two hours every Thursday from 21 December.
Lady Portia is no stranger to the world of broadcasting, having appeared on shows ranging from Come Dine With Me to Deal or No Deal where she walked away with £31,000, to Ru Paul’s Drag Race and The John Bishop Show.
She is a regular radio presenter in Northern Ireland where Lady Portia has a cult following and the hope now is to introduce her particular brand of banter to international listeners.
“I am really excited about this new show on Pride World Radio,” she said.
“Most of the radio I’ve done has been more regional so it’s fantastic to be able to talk to people around the world and hopefully they will also interact with me.”
The programme – Portia Presents A Gay Old Time – will be “an eclectic mix of musical styles and chat.”
“I’ve appeared around the world in places such as Toronto, New York and Sydney where I know Pride World Radio has listeners so it will be great to link up with people out there that may already know me,” she said.
Peter Darrant, Chief Executive of Pride World Media which owns Pride World Radio, added that he was delighted to have Lady Portia on board.
“We know how popular Lady Portia is and how she already has a huge following so it’s fantastic to be able to add her to our stable of presenters,” he said.
“We are sure her shows will be a massive hit.”
Pride World Radio broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is available via the free app, online and through Apple TV.
Lady Portia’s show will be broadcast from 5pm to 7pm starting Thursday 21 December and will be repeated from midnight until 2am GMT for the global audience.
