The platform made stars of Bria Kam and Chrissy Chambers. But now the duo, along with other gay content creators, say they are losing their voice and their living because of the unfair way an algorithm works.
But today they have joined six other LGBTQ YouTube stars to file a class action lawsuit against the platform and its owner Google, suing them for «discrimination, fraud, unfair and deceptive business practices» and «unlawful restraint of speech».
This is because the group say that the YouTube algorithm – purpose-built software that YouTube relies on to recommend, censor and place advertising on videos – discriminates against LGBTQ YouTubers purely because they produce LGBTQ content.
Google’s free LGBTQ ride is over!
Thank you to Bria Kam and Chrissy Chambers and the other YouTuber’s joined this lawsuit! We have been waiting for this – because this do not only apply Google’s YouTube, but as well for their AdSense (ad platform). AdSense as well as YouTube are extremely sensitive regarding LGBTQ content – just a topless man is consider as sex and porn in the Google world. So Google the free LGBTQ ride is over!
