Still riding high on the success of their widely acclaimed self-titled third album that was released earlier this year, Cub Sport celebrate a victorious lap of Europe with a sentimental new single reminiscing about forbidden love between bandmates. Now a year on since frontman Tim Nelson and keyboardist Sam Netterfield were married, «I Never Cried So Much In My Whole Life» is both tragic and triumphant. Nelson’s delicate vocal delivery is frank and vulnerable as he revels in the joy of overcoming obstacles that once seemed insurmountable. While the track glides with gentle melancholy, it’s a beautiful celebration of pride and gratitude for the person Nelson has allowed himself to ultimately become.
Tim Nelson: «I Never Cried So Much In My Whole Life is a song about happy crying. I remember being at home and looking over at Bolan, Miss and Eve on the couch – they all looked so beautiful and happy and I was filled with so much gratitude and happiness and pride for how far we’d come».
Not only coinciding with the climactic finale of Cub Sport’s biggest ever UK headline tour which is set to wrap up at London’s iconic Scala venue, the new single was released on GLAAD Spirit Day – a means of speaking out against LGBTQ bullying and standing with LGBTQ youth. Luminous limited-edition tour t-shirts are now available for fans to buy online with all profits being donated to the charity.

Cub Sport’s recent eponymously titled third album was released in January this year and hit Number 1 on the Australian album chart, staying in the independent album chart for over 12 weeks. The album won worldwide acclaim, with critics and fans alike praising frontman Tim Nelson’s honest and frank song writing following what he calls the most transformative year of his life. Whilst previous album «BATS» chronicled Tim’s coming to terms with and embracing his identity, «Cub Sport» was the product of Tim activating all the lessons learned during the process. It was the first body of work released by the band since Tim and Sam Netterfield‘s marriage, and delves deep into their experiences of self-discovery, learning self-love, being ‘out’, getting married, living their truths, as well as navigating and embracing the complex reality of suddenly being very open with who you are with the world.
