Lorraine Kelly Exclusive On RPDR UK: «I Curtsied When I Met RuPaul»
This Thursday, Lorraine Kelly returns to BBC Three’s smash hit, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK, as director and guest judge alongside Alan Carr and Michelle Visage to critique the queens in a mock TV chat show, Morning Glory.
In an exclusive interview, Kelly sat down with The Tea with NSP, for the debut episode of the new podcast by National Student Pride, also launching this Thursday.
«I couldn’t help myself, I curtsied [when I met RuPaul]. I’ve never seen a more beautiful human being – it’s ridiculous!».
«She’s very tall, and she’s very in charge. It’s her show, so she is the one that sets the tone. And you know as soon as you walk into the studio that it’s going to be fine, because everybody is laughing and just having a nice time. There’s a lovely light atmosphere there».
Additionally, Kelly asserts that «trans women are women and trans men are men«, reaffirming her support for trans* people just as the first trans man is appearing on the concurrent U.S version of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Also discussing her younger years, nights out in Glasgow, and interviewing Buzz Aldrin, Kelly provides an earnest account of her early career and life lessons picked up along the way.
This interview officially launches the countdown to National Student Pride 2021, which last year showcased The Pussycat Dolls at their first ever Pride performance just before the first national lockdown, and will this year be held online from 19th-25th April.
