The Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Trust is looking to expand its gender dysphoria service over the coming year in a bid to bring down waiting lists which can stretch past five years for transgender (trans) people in need to care, chroniclelive.co.uk reports.

According to chroniclelive.co.uk, the trust, which runs the Northern Region Gender Dysphoria Service (NRGDS) based at Walkergate Park Hospital in Newcastle on behalf of the NHS nationally is looking to bring in more staff, work with GPs and charities to improve access to trans healthcare in the community and bring in more support for those who are on the waiting list for vital care.
