Politicians will discuss marriage equality and the Registered Partnership Law’s implementation acts at the conclusion of coalition talks.
According to data published on Monday by the Liberal Citizen Foundation (Sihtasutuse Liberaalne Kodanik, SALK), attitudes toward same-sex marriage are roughly 50-50.
The survey, carried out online by pollster Norstat after the 5 March 2023 election, asked 1,000 respondents if they agreed with the statement «In my opinion, same-sex couples should have the right to marry».
According to Jüristo, there were a lot more people who were against same-sex marriage two years ago. When the Center/EKRE/Isamaa coalition was discussing a referendum, the corresponding data was collected.
The issue is being revisited as junior coalition partners the Social Democrats (SDE) support marriage equality and the passage of implementation acts that would improve the current Registered Partnership Act, err.ee reports.
