Garek – «God Fear Man»
The video, which was produced by Garek and Brian Schilling and was shot at Odd Machine in Chicago, IL, reflects the song’s moody yet upbeat nature. In a twisted Bible scenario, a one-on-one encounter with a nun, and multiple wardrobe changes, Garek orchestrates the end of the world.
«Everyday it seems like we’re coming closer and closer to the Apocalypse», Garek explains to MySocalldGayLife.co.uk. «The 4 Horsemen and Lake of Fire are overdone; I’d like to think there will be multi-coloured demons, cherry-picking nuns, and fun hats».
The sinister visuals and sexually filthy lyrics are a considerable cry from some of his earlier, more family-friendly material. He co-wrote «Surf’s Up» for Disney’s Teen Beach Movie while working as an intern at a music production firm, and he also sang lead on «Pitch Perfect» as one of the main vocalists.
«Everyone makes mistakes», Garek reflects. «My trauma has mouse ears, does yours?»
Drawing upon one of the most controversial scriptures, Leviticus, Garek creates a landscape of taboos.
«Everyone loves to talk about how a ‘man shall not lie with a man’ because the Bible says so. What they never talk about is how, in that same part, it’s also illegal to have tattoos, get haircuts, pick up grapes that have fallen on the ground, plant different seeds in the same garden, eat pork, and mix fabrics. So, if you’ve ever kept a vegetable garden, worn something 50% cotton – 50% polyester, or eaten bacon you’re absolutely going to Hell. Dems da rules».
Garek wrote the track, which was released last month on his 4th studio album «Titan», Listen to the album here: https://linktr.ee/savegarek
The video features makeup by Kasha Rodig and custom wardrobe design by Andrea Montoyaa, both Chicago artists.
