Grace O’Sullivan, MEP for Munster, speaks out in the EU Parliament against the recent anti-LGBTQ+ protest at Tralee Library.

Grace O’Sullivan, MEP for Munster Green Party, commented the recent protests at Tralee Library in Strasbourg over teen books about LGBTQ+.

MEP O’Sullivan stated that the people of Kerry have long been proud of their literary legacy. However, in consideration of the increasing pressure on libraries and bookstores, the EU report was approved by 513 votes in favour and 11 votes against, independent.ie reports.

It emphasised the importance of libraries and bookstores being «safe and welcoming spaces where a wide variety of viewpoints are respected». MEP O’Sullivan called the Tralee Library incident an assault on literature.
