Rage at the Supporters for «Homophobic Chants» in Norway

Patrick Berg, a player from Bodø/Glimt, expressed his frustration and anger after experiencing what he described as «homophobic chants» from the stands during a match NRK reported. The incident occurred during the 88th minute of the game between Kristiansund Ballklubb and Bodø/Glimt.

Despite scoring a crucial goal, Jens Petter Hauge of Bodø/Glimt chose not to celebrate. Instead, he and several other players engaged in a heated argument with the Kristiansund Ballklubb supporters. Patrick Berg was particularly vocal in condemning the homophobic slurs that were directed towards them.

According to NRK, Berg believes that it is essential to speak up against such behaviour when no one else does. He emphasised that homophobic abuse should not be accepted anywhere in society, including football stadiums.

Kristiansund Ballklubb has distanced themselves from the incident and is currently reviewing the video footage to identify the individual responsible. Once identified, the person is likely to face a ban from attending matches for a certain number of games, as per the regulations followed by the club.

The punishment for such behaviour can be severe, with potential bans of up to 35 matches and no access to the stadium until completing a behaviour change program.

It is crucial for football clubs and society as a whole to take a strong stance against homophobic chants and any form of discrimination. Only by addressing such issues can we create an inclusive and respectful environment for everyone involved in the sport.
