India : Traffic Head Constable Arrested for Murder of Same-Sex Partner: Unraveling the Complex Case
Overview of the Incident
What initially appeared to be a straightforward murder investigation has unraveled into a complex case of betrayal and violence, leading to the arrest of a traffic head constable on Friday. This arrest follows a seven-month-long investigation into the murder of a 21-year-old man, which was later found to be a fatal encounter stemming from a date arranged through a gay dating app.
The Discovery of the Case
The case dates back to January 14, 2024, when the body of the deceased, Kaushik, was discovered near a railway crossing in Sadar. An FIR was lodged under sections of murder and the SC/ST Act at Cantt police station. Several individuals, including one of Kaushik’s woman friends, were initially named in the complaint. The investigation was led by ACP Cantt, Abhay Pratap Mall.
Investigation Breakthrough
Despite early suspicions, extensive investigations shifted the focus away from Kaushik’s friends, said the police. The breakthrough came when CCTV footage and other pieces of evidence suggested a different perpetrator. This new lead eventually led to the involvement of head constable Ravinder Pal Singh.
Arrest of the Head Constable
On Friday, head constable Ravinder Pal Singh was arrested in connection with Kaushik’s murder. This arrest marks a significant development in what has become a complex case involving betrayal and violence, further highlighting the devastating consequences of personal relationships turning fatal.
