Following two critically acclaimed EPs, Johanna Glaza returns on November 30 with her latest single ‘Paper Widow.’ Armed with her unique voice, a striking melody and varied electronic textures, Johanna Glaza continues to craft what The Line of Best Fit called “beguiling and immersive” music.

Johanna Glaza - Paper Widow

The 405 called 2014’s Letter to New York EP “a powerful listening experience,” while This is Fake DIY described 2013’s Silence is Kind EP as “filled to the brim with stirring explorative works… terrifyingly touching.”

Available to download from November 30, Paper Widow is as light as the title suggests. Johanna Glaza’s words dance over a playful ukulele melody that billows into an ecstatic final chorus of layered vocals, frolicking bass and chimes, before fading back into effervescence.

B-side Winter Song – a long-time live favourite – is transformed into a swirling maelstrom of a song, evocative of all the grandeur that winter can bring. Its festive keys and flutes mixed with the drama of Johanna’s lyrics will have you running to dust off your winter coat.

When asked about her voice by Amelia’s magazine, Johanna Glaza replied “there’s no distance between you and the instrument, you are the instrument yourself when you sing.” These two new recordings communicate some of that intimacy, drawing the listener in close so that they can hear Johanna’s voice with all its passion and immediacy.
