Jeff King, from the US, was Awarded Eight Honorable Mentions for Photography in the Categories of Advertising, Portraiture, Fine Art and Nature.

Jeff King, Los Angeles & Hawaii based photographer, was honored with eight awards in the 2011 International Photography Awards (The Lucie Awards) for his work with Jane Lynch of TV’s Glee fame; French-African Fashionista Ishmael; 2011 LA Fashion Week; and a photo of a single Orchid flower. More details on the photos that received honorable mention:

“Seriously, Jane Lynch” – A more formal portrait of Hollywood’s funny lady, Jane Lynch, from FOX television’s Glee and other hit motion pictures. The photo was shot as part of an advertising campaign for PFLAG and featured as part of their new age of activism campaign. The IPA honored the photo with four category nods including Advertising, Editorial-Personalities, Portraits, and People-Other.

“Details in the Vanity” – This photo was shot backstage at 2011 LA Fashion Week. The smoke machine filled the air with a gracious pillow of soft light, the stage was set as models primped and prepped for the runway in this quiet moment shot backstage just before the show. The IPA honored the photo in the Advertising category.

“Ishmael” – Shot in London, the photo is of a French-African friend, Ishmael, as he reclines on the hotel bed in Paris smoking his hand rolled cigarette and telling tales of life in the underground world of fashion and design. The IPA honored the photo with two nods including Fine Art-Portraits and People-Portraits.

“Magenta’s Orchid” – This photo is of a single Orchid flower, which was lit from behind with a single pin light against a black backdrop. The glow of the veins and intricacies of its’ structure really benefited from back lighting which make it appear to jump off the print. The IPA honored it with a nod in the Nature-Flowers category.
