A data problem that had an impact on some LGBTQ students has been acknowledged by a Saskatchewan-based online education portal used by parents and students.

The portal’s operator, Edsby, claims a glitch during a system update led to students’ birth names appearing on accounts rather than their preferred ones.

Some LGBTQ students claim that they were incorrectly labelled and outed since the glitch allowed their classmates to access their birth names.

Edsby claims that a solution has been found and accepts responsibility, saskatoon.ctvnews.ca reports.
