Colorado Springs Police were called to reports of a shooting at Club Q just before midnight on Saturday and are calling the incident “a mass casualty event”, Sky News reports.

A gunman opened fire at a Colorado Springs gay nightclub, Club Q,  late Saturday, killing 5 people and injuring 18, police said, NBC News reports.

The suspected shooter was injured in the incident and was hospitalised, Colorado Springs Police Department spokeswoman Sgt. Pamela Castro said according to NBC News
