Young man who waved LGBTQ flag in Egypt gets jail time extended

A young man arrested for having held up a rainbow flag supporting LGBTQ rights in Egypt has been ordered to spend an extra 15 days in preventative custody, Egyptian media such as Masrawi and Al-Watan reported on Monday.


The decision was made by the prosecutor’s office for State Security, tasked with the case by the state prosecutor’s office to investigate the holding of a concert by the Lebanese Mashrou Leila band in Cairo, during which the flag had been waved by the man arrested, known as ”Ahmed A.”.
