The Myrtle Beach LGBT community is holding its second annual pride festival this year, July 3rd through 5th.

Gay Flag

While pride is primarily to increase visibility, it provides a (relatively) safe environment to be one self. Pride is also an opportunity for those who live in small towns without a visible gay population to be around people like themselves, and pride-goers can serve as an effective support group for those who have been victims of anti-gay discrimination. It is particularly important for gay children who have suffered from anti-gay sentiment either at home or at school, or both.

This year we are pleased to announce the inclusion of events at non-traditionally-gay venues, such as Club Kryptonite. Sunday at Kryptonite will feature Derrick Barry as Britney Spears.

Other sponsors of Myrtle Beach Pride are local favourite for over 20 years Time Out Night Club; Rainbow House; and the Center Project, located at 736 8th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577. Visit us at myrtlebeachpride.com.
