Got homophobic e-mails after complaining about local McDonald’s restaurant

It began when Mattias one days found the service he got at the restaurant was poor and then sent a written complaint to McDonalds headquarters in Stockholm.

McDonald’s headquarters forwarded the complaint to the restaurant and the local management put the complaint on their message-board. So all of the  employees could see that their restaurant has got a complaint and they should think about improving their the service they gave their customers.

The local restaurant didn’t remove the complainers contact information, but after what has happen to Mattias they will change their routines so the employees will not know who has complained.

One day Mattias got a mail:

“You fucking faggot, I hope you never turn up at McDonald’s in Falun anymore. All at the restaurant hate you and we know who you are, you fucking gay whore.”

When I received the first letter, I broke down and cried, “says Mattias to the Swedish newspaper dt.se.

After the initial shock has settled Mattias took the courage to contact McDonald’s again, after he has received over 20 hate-mails about his sexuality.

In Sweden even hate-mail are categorised as a hate crime according to Swedish law.

Hate crime is everything from murder to offensive graffiti – it’s the reason for the crime which determines whether it is a hate crime, writes the Swedish Newspaper.

Mattias has reported the hate crime to the police and it’s filed as a hate crime.

Mattias says he feels that he has been taken seriously by the police and McDonald’s local management.

The local McDonald’s manager, Claes-Göran Jönsson, says to the local newspaper, they will help the police with their investigation. If someone at the local McDonald’s restaurant has sent these hate-mail to Mattias, the person(s) will be fired confirms the manager to the dt.se. Claes-Göran Jönsson adds, we will not ever accept this kind of behaviour from our employees.
