Fatherhood Dreams – Documentary that Promotes Equality for Gay Families
Documentary Fatherhood Dreams introduces people into the day-to-day lives of gay dads- Randy and Drew, a married couple who adopts a baby boy; Steve, who co-parents his two daughters with a lesbian couple, and Scott, who is welcoming twins to the world through surrogacy.

Fatherhood Dreams was nominated for Best Documentary of the Year by the Canadian Film and TV Production Association, has been broadcast by WNET/Thirteen – the most watched PBS Station in US, and has been shown at numerous LGBT and Human Rights Film Festivals all over the world.
Human Rights battles for LGBT rights continue all over the planet. Fatherhood Dreams has just been programmed by the Human Rights Film Festival in Lithuania, where the country’s parliament has passed the new legislation that makes any activities related to homosexuality punishable by law.
According to Gediminas Andriukaitis, programming director of the Ad Hoc: Inconvenient Films Film Festival, ‘Unfortunately, there is a risk, that some of the films, that we screen this year can become illegal in the nearest future. Recently the parliament passed a law, saying that promotion of homosexual relationships is causing a detrimental effect on minors and public exhibition of such materials is illegal. We cannot accept that.’
None of us wish to live in any country that makes it a criminal offence to become a loving family just because of the color of our skin, ethnicity, or sexual orientation.
Fatherhood Dreams shows non threatening reality of gay families and their genuine love for their children and for each other. This film can become a bridge in the debate on gay families and is a great tool to encourage straight and gay families alike to find a common ground and understand each other.
