This Wednesday, June 9, Capital Pride celebrates its 35th anniversary with a high-brow soirée at the Donovan House (1155 14th Street, NW) that anyone who supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community is welcome to attend.
The party begins at 6:30 p.m. and runs through 1:00 a.m. with a suggested minimum contribution ranging from $10.00 to $20.00 at the door. This is one swanky party that is accessible to nearly anyone, proving once again that there is something for everyone to enjoy at Capital Pride.
Capital Pride’s 35th Anniversary Celebration features a fantastic silent auction, specially priced culinary cocktails and nibbles, and complimentary light appetisers. The evening’s entertainment will be hosted by Capital Pride Hero, Miss Capital Pride 2010 Destiny B. Childs with live jazz performances by Dane Figueroa Edidi and The Afro Blue Collection, a performance by Potomac Fever, and spinning on the rooftop lounge by the Washington City Paper’s Best DJ of 2010, Keenan Orr.

Even our silent auction has something for everyone. So mark your calendar and come celebrate Capital Pride at 35 this Wednesday night.”
Benefiting the educational and cultural programs of Capital Pride, the 35th Anniversary Silent Auction features more than 50 items, including: an opportunity to meet Capital Pride’s headlining performer, country music sensation Chely Wright; a collector’s guitar from the 2007 ‘True Colors Tour’ autographed by Cyndi Lauper, Rosie O’Donnell, Margaret Cho, Rufus Wainwright, Debbie Harry, and others; a 7-day Olivia Cruise; vacation packages care of Amtrak, Harrah’s Entertainment, Kimpton Hotels, the Carlyle Suites, and the Donovan House; baseball tickets to the Nationals ‘Night Out’; concert tickets from Clear Channel and Hot 99.5; art; jewellery; packages for kids, pets and much, much more.
Culinary items on the menu include specialty cocktails like the Capital Cosmo, the Lambda Rising, and Pride Punch, in honour of Capital Pride co-founder and 2010 Super Hero, Deacon Maccubbin. There will also be made-to-order sushi, plus dumplings, sliders and wings by Zentan Restaurant.
