Progressive Democrats of America, a national activist group founded in Phoenix 2004, is expanding its presence in Arizona, with events planned this week in Naco, Tucson, Phoenix, and Flagstaff. The “PDA Arizona Tour” events are described below and more information is available online.
PDA national director Tim Carpenter said, “PDA is returning to our roots in Arizona to draw attention to the policies that further exacerbate the economic crisis for average Americans like ever-increasing war spending, unaffordable healthcare, and deficit reduction instead of economic expansion that creates jobs in a green economy.” Carpenter went on to say, “Arizona’s harsh and immoral treatment of undocumented workers will not solve our economic woes; corporate power and the military-industrial complex are the real enemies of prosperity for the middle-class and the poor.”
PDA, as they have always done, is continuing with old-fashioned people-to-people organising in 2011 to help Americans understand that government no longer has their best interests at heart. The Arizona Tour is the second stop after a successful tour in Pennsylvania (See: www.pdamerica.org/blog/view/on-the-road-again-in-pennsylvania/). “Until Americans are prepared to rise-up in common cause as the Egyptians have done, we can expect more policies that benefit the wealthy at the expense of the middle-class and poor,” Carpenter added.
BORDER PEACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE FAIR

Progressive Democrats of America was founded in 2004 to transform the Democratic Party and our country. We seek to build a party and government controlled by citizens, not corporate elites–with policies that serve the broad public interest, not just private interests. In just five years, PDA and its allies have shaken up the political status quo–on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, Medicare for all, voter rights, accountability, and economic and environmental justice.
