Vigils Planned Nationwide to Protect Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security
Progressive Democrats of America (PDA) and allies have planned vigils at congress members' offices in districts all over the United States for midday next Wednesday, July 20th. The vigils are aimed at protecting the greatest historical accomplishments of the Democratic Party from living Democrats.
“When President Obama promised change, we didn’t think he meant this,” said PDA National Director Tim Carpenter. “President Obama was wrong to oppose single-payer healthcare, wrong to continue enlarging the military and launching new wars, wrong to extend the Bush-Obama Tax Cuts, and he is dead wrong to propose cutting Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.”
PDA proposes these solutions:
Close the Medicare prescription drug benefit loophole and save $1 trillion in 10 years.
Protect and expand Medicaid funding.
Strengthen and stabilize Social Security by removing the payroll contributions cap.
