Fundraising charity, Manchester Pride, has made two new appointments, bolstering its governance structures.
Joining the Board of Trustees is Rob Malcomson who works to detect and prevent fraud as part of the Audit Commission’s National Fraud Initiative. He is a long-term supporter of Manchester Pride and has been involved with charity work and campaigning on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) issues since his university days.
Rob is also involved in the local music scene and musical theatre, appearing in productions at The Lowry and Royal Northern College of Music, and married his partner, Gary, in a civil partnership in 2011.
In addition, Karen Richards has joined Manchester Pride as a director of its trading subsidiary, Manchester Pride Events Ltd. Karen works in the construction industry as a health and safety advisor and as a consultant on equality and diversity issues. Karen has volunteered for Manchester Pride, and is well known for her work with Manchester Concord and the national transgender celebration, Sparkle.
Manchester Pride Chair, Vicken Couligian, said “I am delighted to welcome Rob and Karen to their roles with Manchester Pride. They bring valuable experience and skills that compliment those of the current Trustees. Both have a background in volunteering and a long-standing commitment to LGBT equality and will help Manchester Pride deliver our goals of fundraising for LGBT and HIV groups, challenging discrimination and celebrating diversity.”
